OCI in the Era of Coronavirus: Speaker Introductions Part 1

The National Womxn of Color Collective (NWOCC) is proud to present its first event, OCI in the Era of Coronavirus.   This event will take place this Saturday, January 9th from 10 am – 2 pm (PST)/ 1 pm – 5 pm (EST) by Zoom. 

Through a series of panels, this event will provide valuable insight into the OCI process for womxn of color by womxn of color.  It is our pleasure to introduce our esteemed speakers –

Jennifer Carriòn will lead PANEL I – OCI in the Era of Coronavirus.  Jennifer is the Diversity Recruiting Manager at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP.  

As a member of the firm’s US recruiting team, Jennifer assists with the overall planning, management, and administration of diverse law students and lateral non-partner lawyer recruiting, integration, and development.  Jennifer also works with several teams across the firm to develop and implement innovative diversity and inclusion outreach programs to support the firm.

Jennifer’s background combines a passion for diversity and inclusion in action and several years of legal recruiting.  She also serves as President of the Hispanic National Bar Association, Deputy Region in step with her dedication to diversity and inclusion. 

Jennifer will walk attendees through the impact of coronavirus on the OCI process with a discussion about the changing job market, the hiring process, and economic outlook in the legal field.

Rocio Guadalupe Mendoza will co-lead PANEL III – Network & Networth: Navigating Law Firm Culture.  Rocio is the Senior Associate at Baker MacKenzie and a member of the firm’s North America Energy Transactions Practice Group.  In her role, Rocio advises on a diverse range of domestic and international energy-related transactions and projects, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and project development.  Rocio is also a member of the Houston office’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, Recruiting Committee and Community Services Committee.  She has extensive experience in her field and has been awarded accordingly. Most recently, Rocio was awarded the Expert Guides, Rising Stars Awards Americas 2020 (Energy and natural resources); On the Rise, Texas Legal Awards, 2020; and Texas Rising Star, Texas Monthly, 2020.

Joining Rocio on PANEL III is Jennifer Wilson.  Jennifer is a Law Clerk at Jones Day.  She earned her Juris Doctor in May 2020 from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law (USC).  At USC, Jennifer was involved in student leadership, including her roles as Co-Founder and Co-President of Womxn of Color Collective; 1L Peer Mentor; Co-Academic Chair for the Black Law Students Association; and a Saks Scholar.  Jennifer continues to illustrate her passion for uplifting womxn of color as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of NWOCC.

We are so excited about the advice and wisdom these womxn of color will share with us!  Tomorrow, we will highlight the rest of our amazing speakers.
